Tributes pour in for Marshall Security officer

Nishen Jaikissoon (38), a long serving member of the company, died in his sleep on Sunday.

TRIBUTES have begun pouring in for Nishen Jaikissoon, a Marshall Security officer who passed away over the weekend. The 38-year-old died in his sleep on Sunday. Jaikissoon, a husband and father of three was well-known in the North Durban community. He was due to be promoted to Marshall Security’s Special Operations Team (SOT) this week. His funeral was held in Verulam today.

Tyron Powell of Marshall Security, said he and staff members were devastated to hear of Jaikissoon’s passing. Powell said Jaikissoon, who was held in high esteem, also had the honour of winning the most Shield Awards. The award is handed out by the company to patrol officers who secured the most arrests every quarter.

“He was so dedicated and such an awesome guy. He was always willing to help anyone and was incredibly humble. He was steadfast in his fight against crime and was committed to the community’s well-being.

“He started as a reaction officer in 2012 before moving on to be a reaction officer supervisor. I actually had a chat to him last week about joining our Special Operations Team. It was with a heavy heart that we learned of his passing on Sunday. Our deepest sympathies go out to the Jaikissoon family, our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this terrible time,” he said.
