uMhlanga cleaner hailed as ‘hero’ after good deed

uMhlanga resident praises local cleaner for his honesty and humbleness.

A LOCAL cleaner, has restored some faith in humanity after he went above and beyond to return a lost wallet he found at Butcher Boys in uMhlanga to the owner. The wallet in question was dropped by uMhlanga resident, Louis Joffe, and later found by the Good Samaritan.

Joffe praised Nathi Chiliza, who found his wallet last Wednesday, for his honesty and rewarded him with a cash incentive.

“It was a Wednesday morning and I was on my way to the gym. I didn’t realise I had dropped my wallet until about 15 minutes later when I got a call from the restaurant. They told me Nathi had found my wallet and I could pick it up at any time. I went back into the village and thanked Nathi for his humbleness and his honesty. I’m so grateful he was able to get it back to me. I think that he is a legend,” Joffe said.

Northglen News visited Chiliza, a day after the incident, who said he would do it all over again if he could.

“The morning I saw Mr Joffe’s wallet, I knew I had to hand it to my manager so that he could contact the rightful owner. When he came back, he was so happy and appreciative and it made me smile, I felt good. I’m so thankful for his gift, I’ll always help anyone in anyway I can, it is how I was brought up,” he said.
