Bobbert pays tribute to Dame Vera Lynn

Get down to the Rhumbelow Theatre and experience some good old fashioned music.

THIS month, Dame Vera Lynn will turn 100 years old. To this day, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren are familiar with her warm and beautiful voice. A voice, some say, helped to win a war. A few years ago she was number one on the hit parade in England, with a re-release of her wartime album ‘Hits of the Blitz’ – not many 95 year olds can boast that achievement.

Songs such as, We’ll Meet Again, The White Cliffs of Dover, We’ll Gather Lilacs, There’ll Always be an England and, of course, A Nightingale Sang in Berkley Square are just a few of the many familiar and favourite songs featured in this tribute to a British National Treasure.

Lisa Bobbert, Evan Roberts and Anthony Stonier take a nostalgic trip down an English country lane and remember the songs and stories that won the war in a show entitled, A Nightingale Sang, A Tribute to Veral Lynn. The trio will do renditions of all British national treasure’s songs.

The show runs from Friday, 17 March until Tuesday, 21 March at Rhumbelow Theatre, situated at 42 Cunningham Road, off Bartle Road in Umbilo. Tickets are R150 a ticket. Book at Computicket or email Roland for bookings on 082 499 8636 or roland@stansell.za.net.
