This event was an ‘un-official’ trial event featuring all the top 15 year and 16 year olds in SA. Gore competed over the course of two days finishing second at the Schools Triathlon Challenge (SAT). Tegan finished behind fellow KZN athlete Amber Schlebusch.

On the second day of the competition, Gore took on the Schools Duathlon Challenge (SUN) where she placed second overall among the open

“After my races I was quite tired, the races take a lot out of you. In Cape Town, my duathlon the day after the triathlon I wasn’t feeling great in my warm up but I was very happy with my race. I really loved racing in Cape Town, the swim is quite tough since the water is so cold but the cycle and run are really amazing, definitely one of my favourite places to race. I was pleased with how my races have been and I do feel that I’m getting stronger and fitter since last year, Prime HPI and my dad coaching me have really helped me so much,” she said.

The next trial event will be the SA Triathlon Championships which is being held in the Free-state at the ALDAM DAM on 19 March.

Following the event TSA (Triathlon South Africa) will then select a squad to represent SA at the world Triathlon Championships to be held in the Netherlands later this year which Tegan is hoping to make.
