Severe traffic jam on N2 near Gateway
A tanker crashed across the highway before rolling down an embankment.
A TANKER has veered off the N2 causing a severe traffic jam. The incident occurred on Tuesday, 28 February, with paramedics responded to the call at 6:40 am. According to Netcare 911 spokesman, Chris Botha, reports from the scene suggest the tanker had veered across the centre median from the southbound carriageway before plunging down an embankment.
The accident happened just before Gateway on the N2 North and caused a severe traffic back-log.
“Paramedics arrived to find that no one from the the tanker had been injured in the crash,” Botha said.
A second crash occurred while paramedics were on the scene, in which one car rear-ended another. Two people sustained moderate injuries in the accident. They were treated on site by paramedics before being transported to a local hospital.
