Pedestrian fighting for his life, uMhlanga

The man was reportedly struck by a BMW while crossing the busy uMhlanga road.

A PEDESTRIAN is fighting for his life after being involved in an accident on Armstrong Avenue. Paramedics responded to the call at around 4:30 pm on Monday, 27 February. They arrived to find that the man had hit his head on the windscreen of a BMW, after sliding across the bonnet and shattering the glass. That’s according to Netcare 911’s spokesperson, Chris Botha. The man sustained life-threatening injuries and had to be placed on a ventilator by paramedics after being spinally immobilized.

Botha said, “The pedestrian was reportedly struck by the vehicle while he was running across the road in uMhlanga.”

He has since been moved to a local hospital for care.

Earlier on Monday, a 64 year-old man was involved in a motorbike crash that left him in a critical condition. Paramedics had to perform advanced life-support on the scene and while transporting him to Umhlanga Hospital for further care. The incident occurred on the M4 South, just before Glenashley off-ramp.
