The soldiers are in the city as part of this year’s celebration of the Armed Forces Day.

SANDF members put on a display this morning at the Durban beachfront that captivated beach goers. The soldiers are in the city as part of this year’s celebration of the Armed Forces Day and a special commemoration of the sinking of the SS Mendi.

Locals were able to enjoy various events throughout the week, including live capability demonstrations (day and night) by the service men and women of the South African National Defence Forces. An Armed Forces Day Gala Concert will also be held at the Durban City Hall today, followed by a CISM Fun Walk/Run tomorrow at 6am.

The Fun Walk/Run will start at Blue Lagoon and end at uShaka Marine World. The highlight of the week will be the Armed Forces Day Parade on 21 February.
