Send your budget tips to Minister Gordhan

Tell Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan what you think he should include in the national budget.

FINANCE Minister Pravin Gordhan has called on South Africans to share their budget tips with him ahead of the tabling of the National Budget later this month. Among the views from the public that the Minister is looking towards is the funding of free education for students in tertiary institutions.

“The Minister [would also] like public views on how South Africa can achieve inclusive economic growth as well as how South Africa can use its resources to ensure efficiencies. The Minister would also like views on how the government, civil society, unions and business can work together in oneness of purpose to achieve the economic objectives of our country,” said the Ministry of Finance.

Minister Gordhan is due to table the Budget in Parliament on 22 February.

The Ministry said the Budget will be presented against the backdrop of sluggish economic growth, the looming threat of a possible negative view by independent rating agencies, the fees must fall campaign, as well as uncertainty in the global economic conditions.
