Crusaders ready for tough season ahead

Crusaders coaching staff say they are aiming for a top 5 finish in this year's premier division.

AFTER finishing in the lower half of the Fidelity Security Moor Cup, the Crusaders are determined to turn around their fortunes for the new season ahead. Ronnie Uys, head coach of the Durban North team believes in his squad especially with the new editions of former Springbok, Dick Muir as director of the club and former Sharks and SA 7s player, Dusty Noble as backline coach.

“Last year was a tough season for the boys but I’m confident we can turn things around. We’ve got some exciting new additions to the side and a wealth of experience in the management and coaching experience. What’s really been pleasing is the youngsters that we’ve brought into the squad have really performed well in pre-season training. They’ve brought a good energy and there’s a good spirit in the squad. We want to compete against the best in the league and this year we are determined to get the season off to a good start. It’s going to be difficult but its a challenge I’m looking forward to,” he said.

Noble, the newly appointed backline coach echoed Uys’ sentiments saying he wanted Crusaders back at the top of the log.

“Our season gets underway at the Flya tournament and we need to start the season on the right foot. I think the wealth of knowledge and experience from Dick (Muir) and Ronnie (Uys) is great for a club seeking to turn around its fortunes. The challenge is to take this team back to the top and the players are raring to go,” Noble said.
