Gang flags down, robs motorist

Three unknown men accosted and robbed the motorist.

GREENWOOD Park police have warned motorists to be cautious of three men and a woman who flag down and rob unsuspecting drivers.

According to the station’s communications officer, Warrant Officer Leon Audh, a local resident was turning into Effingham Road, off Chris Hani Road on Wednesday at 1.30am, when he noticed a distressed woman flagging him down for help.

“The unsuspecting driver then stopped to assist,  only to find out that the woman needed transport to an area close to where he was living. While communicating with the woman, three unknown men accosted him, robbed him and thereafter  fled the crime scene with the victim’s cellphone and an undisclosed amount of cash. No injuries were sustained in this incident.

Greenwood Park SAPS would like to alert the community about this type of modus operandi and advise you not to stop to assist anyone in this vicinity.”
