Northlands Girls’ ace exams
Matriculants achieved 203 subject As in the final exams.
NORTHLANDS Girls High School (NGHS) is extremely proud that all 112 learners who wrote matric in 2016, passed the exams, while also boasting a 93 per cent Bachelor’s pass and achieved 203 subject As. School principal Andrew Graaf said he was very proud of his pupils.
“It’s a remarkable achievement, we anticipated good results and I’m so pleased with all the learners. I have nothing but praise for them. The work ethic of the learners and the teachers has been amazing,” he said.
Two NGHS learners passed with eight As, Sanam Daya and Saishka Naidoo. Sanam, who was joint Dux with Shivani Pillay, achieved 84 per cent in IEB advanced programme mathematics, 96 per cent in information technology and 94 per cent in physical sciences. Shivani was one of four NGHS learners who passed with 7As, including Alisa Dayanand, Janisha Dhanlal and Simi-Nobukhosi Moyo.
We caught up with Simi-Nobukhosi who also secured a scholarship from the Alan Gray Orbis Foundation.
“My parents and my teachers and Jesus have been my rocks. I’m looking forward to my next chapter and I will be studying medicine at the University of Cape Town (UCT). My advice to this year’s matrics is do your best. You need to be committed and have a good support structure around you. And most of all embrace the challenge,” she said.
