11 injured in five car pile-up on N2
Traffic has been severely affected by the accident.
ELEVEN people were injured after a five car pile-up on the N2 near the uMgeni interchange (going north) just after 2pm on Saturday afternoon. Paramedics from various services responded to the scene and traffic has been severely affected. According to Rescue Care’s Garrith Jamieson, paramedics responded to the call just after 2pm.
“On their arrival they found that the vehicles were strewn across approximately 200 metres. A total of five vehicles were involved in the crash. A total of eleven patients had sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate,” he said.
According to Athlenda Mathe, Netcare 911 spokesperson, the cause of the accident was unknown.
“The exact detail to the cause of the accident will remain a subject for police investigation and comment. All injured were stabilised on scene and transported to various hospitals in the area by paramedics from other emergency services,” she said.
Last year, two people were killed in a horror crash on the same stretch of road.
