According to a statement issued by Marshall Security, Blue Security and the SAPS were also involved in the arrest.

At about 11pm, a guest at a neighbouring bed and breakfast in Braemar Avenue noticed two suspicious men entering the next door property with back packs and alerted security services.

Officers managed to gain access to the premises by climbing over a neighbouring wall. They checked the property and there was no sign of forced entry.

A back pack containing power supply units for an Xbox 360 console as well as various other items belonging to the home owner were found on the property. With the assistance of Blue Security, a search of the surrounding area and neighbouring properties was conducted. Two men were spotted on Davallen Avenue. When reaction officers approached the men, they dropped a bag and attempted to flee on foot. A foot chase ensued resulting in the arrest of both suspects.

“The men were found to be in possession of various electronic equipment, high-end watches and clothing. One of the men confessed to being the son of the domestic worker of the property on Braemer Avenue and that he had taken her keys to the property to conduct the house breaking,” the statement read.

Both men were arrested on site and have been remanded for further investigation and processing.
