WATCH: Sunningdale garage goes up in flames

Its unclear at this stage what caused the fire to the Sunningdale home.

A DOG is being treated for smoke inhalation after a garage on Round the Green in Sunningdale went up in flames on Friday afternoon. The fire broke-out shortly after 4.30pm this afternoon confirmed Kyle van Reenen of Marshall Security.

“It’s unclear what started the fire at this stage. The garage and granny flat were gutted by the blaze but thankfully no one was injured. The homeowner was home at the time of the fire but there was no damage to the main house. One of her dogs was slightly burned and is being treated at Ashburne Vet for smoke inhalation. The fire department have done sterling work and were able to put out the blaze quite quickly.

“Gary Paul of Netcare 911 and myself rushed the dog, a Jack Russel mix, to the vet, it had burns to its skin, and was badly in shock. It looked like second-degree burns, another small dog which was on the property was lucky to escape any injury,” he said.
