Shining IEB results from Fatima girls
The school achieved a 100 per cent Bachelor degree passes for the IEB exams.
OUR Lady of Fatima Dominican Convent School pupils have made the North proud after the Independent Examinations Board (IEB) results were released earlier today. Not only did the school achieve 100 per cent Bachelor degree passes for the IEB exams, but the Dux of the school, Sabrina Miljus achieved 8 As and a 91 per cent aggregate.
This positioned her in the top five per cent in the country. She also achieved 96 per cent for mathematics. Her 93 per cent for history and 94 per cent for life orientation placed her in the top one per cent in the country. Miljus will now study medicine at Wits University.
“This is not just my celebration, this is my school’s and family’s celebration too. They have been incredibly supportive. What really helped me this year was staying detached from the stress, time management is key but you shouldn’t think about everything all at once otherwise you end up overwhelming yourself,” she said.
Other notable results were Samantha Melis, who finished as runner up Dux and bagged 7 As and an 88 per cent aggregate. She scored more than 90 per cent for history, life orientation, maths and physical science.
“It wasn’t what I expected, I expected good results but not this. I stayed up for my the SMS with my results and initially I didn’t want to look but I gave in after a while. I’m extremely pleased with my results. I’ve been at Fatima for 12 years and I owe my results to this school, my teachers really went the extra mile for me,” she said.
Head of sport, Brittany Swart, also finished with 7 As and an 86 per cent aggregate. Swart’s 94 per cent for visual arts placed her in the top one per cent in the country.
Principal of the school, Dee Horsfall, congratulated all the Fatima matrics on their exciting results and paid tribute to the teachers who are passionate about children and who demonstrate the values necessary for success.
