Crawford learners ace IEB exams

Crawford learners excel in 2016 IEB exams.

TODAY marked a memorable day in the lives of three Grade 12 learners from Crawford College La Lucia who were announced the school’s top achievers in the 2016 IEB exams.

Darshan Govender and Kevalin Sahaye, both 18-year-olds who reside in Mount Edgecombe, bagged first position with an impressive aggregate of 88.4 per cent. Not far behind with her remarkable marks was Thejal Naidoo, who was placed third with an aggregate of 88.3 per cent.

The three top learners shared their future plans with the Northglen News as well as tips for the matric class of 2017.

For Darshan, his key to success was maintaining a balanced lifestyle and having a strong support structure.  Speaking about the moment his results were released and his future goals, he said,  “There were mixed emotions, of excitement and happiness. All the years of school have paid off. I am happy to share this trophy with Kevalin. I plan on studying Actuarial Science at UCT and I’d like to open my own actuarial firm in Durban by the time I reach 45.”

Kevalin who plans on studying mechanical engineering said time management is vital during your matric year.

Meanwhile, 17-year-old Thejal said the year was not as bad as everyone describes it to be. She ensured there was a balance between her study time and relaxation period. The Durban North resident plans on studying medicine at the University of Witwatersrand.
