SAPS on the hunt for gun-weilding robbers

Two business robberies and a carjacking rock Greenwood Park area in two days.

Police are searching for eight suspects involved in three separate robberies that took place over the weekend. Greenwood Park SAPS spokesman, W/O Leon Audh said two cases of business robbery and one of carjacking are currently under investigation.

“On Saturday morning, three suspects stole a white Hyundai H100 from a business premises in Ebony Field, Springfield Park. The guard was changing when he was accosted by an armed suspect who instructed him to lie on the floor.  Two more suspects entered the area and stole the H100. They fled the area,” Audh said.

Later that day, a woman was reversing out of her driveway when she noticed a white VW Polo stop behind her. Audh explained that two armed suspects approached the woman, who had jumped out of her Hyundai.

“When she saw that the suspects were armed, she tried to get back into her car. The suspects forced her out, got into her car and sped off in the woman’s silver Hyundai,”  he added.

On Sunday, two suspects entered a convenience shop in Quarry Park and held up staff. Audh said the two suspects were joined by a third accomplice and after ransacking the store, the trio made off with packets of cigarettes, cell phones and an undisclosed amount of cash.

The cases are under investigation by Det/Const NP Mhlongo. Anyone with information on any of the matters, is urged to contact Mhlongo on 073 862 1700.
