Two people were killed when a vehicle overturned on the N2 southbound carriageway near Gateway last night. A 35-year old man and a 3-year old girl were declared dead at the scene, while a 6-year old boy is fighting for his life in hospital.
Netcare 911 spokesman, Chris Botha, said when emergency teams arrived at the scene, they found that the vehicle had overturned.
“Paramedics found accident debris on the road and the twisted frame of the vehicle obstructing the roadway. The three occupants in the vehicle had all been ejected and were found near the wreckage,” Botha said.
A man had succumbed to his injuries and the girl was in a critical condition.
“Despite resuscitation efforts from the paramedics, she died at the scene. The teams then worked fervently to stabilise the boy. He was transported to a Durban hospital under the constant care of a life support paramedic,” Botha said.
