Cash boost for KZN Children’s Hospital

Monies will go towards the new cerebral palsy ward.

Thanks to a cash injection from the SA Women’s Forte, children suffering from cerebral palsy can now enjoy the new facilities at KZN Children’s Hospital. Michelle Michael, president of the organisation that aims to uplift the lives of the less fortunate, handed over a R300 000 cheque to KZN Children’s Hospital Trust chief executive officer, Dr Arthi Ramkissoon last Tuesday. KZN Children’s Hospital was formerly known as Addington Children’s Hospital.

The children who are currently undergoing treatment were present at the handover together with their parents. Speaking at the event, Michael who is  a La Lucia resident said the SA Women’s Forte decided to adopt the KZN Children’s Hospital as the beneficiary for their annual fundraising project, a gala dinner, after a visit to the hospital.

“I was taken aback and deeply saddened by the complete disrepair of this beautiful building. I was in awe of the trustees who had taken on the mammoth task to restore this building into a functional children’s hospital,” Michael said.

Dr Arthi Ramkissoon, CEO of the KZN Children’s Hospital Trust, said, “We are very excited and are looking forward to the new developments that will take place at the hospital. We are in plans to establish a club foot clinic and other clinics and this donation will go a long way towards the further development of the hospital.”
