Durban North SAPS win big at cluster awards

The local station won five awards at the awards ceremony.

CHAIRMAN of the Durban North and uMhlanga Community Policing Forum (CPF), Haden Searles, has congratulated the Durban North SAPS station after it won a number of awards at the eThekwini Outer North Cluster Commander’s Awards evening.

The station won Best Vispol in the Cluster and the Best Detective Branch in the Cluster awards. Detective Sipho Shezi was also recognised for his Outstanding Convictions For Trio Crimes. Constable Mabuyi Ntanzi was also recognised for her Outstanding Work in Managing the SAP13 (Exhibits/Evidence) room.

Tyron Powell of Marshall Security accepted a Commendation for Service Excellence on his company’s behalf.

“I think everyone, from the members all the way up to the station commander need to be commended. It’s great to see their hard work being recognised like this and I congratulate each and everyone of the members and thank them on behalf of the community,” Searles said.

Lt Raymond Deokaran, spokesman for the Durban North SAPS, said the management at the station was extremely pleased of the recognition the station received.

“We are proud of our members and we will continue to work with the community and all the stakeholders to combat crime in the area,” he said.
