Armed men rob Parks department crew at Rinaldo park

The suspects were all armed with handguns.

FOUR men armed with firearms held-up and robbed an eThekwini Parks Department truck and its crew. The workers were at Rinaldo Road park for the weekly grass-cutting when the suspects arrived. They raided the truck of thousands of rands worth of equipment. Kyle van Reenen, of Marshall Security, said the incident occurred just minutes ago.

“The suspects arrived in a white Opel Corsa bakkie and jumped out with their guns drawn. The workers ran away as soon as they saw the firearms. They stole gardening machines and equipment before dumping them in to their vehicle and fleeing the scene. The vehicle had no number plates on it and a case of armed robbery has been opened by the Greenwood Park SAPS,” he said.

Van Reenen added no one was harmed in the robbery.
