Fuel price decrease on the cards

Expect to pay 41 cents a less for a litre of petrol from next month.

MOTORISTS can expect to pay around 41 cents less for petrol from next month. The petrol price drop has been widely welcomed as it comes just in time for the festive season. Diesel is also expected to see a decrease in price of 38 cents with illuminating paraffin prices falling by 36 cents.

The announcement was made by the Automobile Association (AA) yesterday.  The drop according to the AA was partly due to the Rand’s slump against the US dollar following the election of American president, Donald Trump.

The AA said, “A host of highly fluid factors are at play‚ including local political developments‚ ratings agencies’ view of our economy‚ and the impact of possible changes in US policy after President-elect Donald Trump takes office. We expect this volatility to be reflected in fuel prices in the next few months.”
