New beginnings for Danville

Cally Maddams is set to step down after serving as principal for more than 24 years.

SINCE 1992, Cally Maddams has been at the helm of one of Durban North’s most prestigious schools, Danville Park Girls’ High School. Now Maddams is set to call it a day. The school recently announced their new principal, Linda Scholtz after a confirmation from the department of education.

Maddams who has been with Danville for more than 24 years has served as president of the South African Girls’ Schools Association (SAGSA). This year the school was named the 2015 national top public schools at the National Education Excellence Awards.

“It is with gratitude for your tireless service and our deepest respect that we say goodbye and wish you well for the future,” said deputy principal of Danville, Glenda Goddard-Gill.

In a statement issued earlier this week, the school welcomed the new principal who will start next year and wished her the best of luck.

“We wish Mrs Scholtz a rewarding and happy time in her new post.” the statement said.

Scholtz has served as deputy principal, then acting principal at Ridge Park College. After seven years, Scholtz was promoted to principal of Kuswag Combined School where she has spent the past ten years.
