Lend a helping paw at market fundraiser

This Saturday's fundraiser will be in aid of Persian Cat Rescue Durban.

FOR the past four years, a Christmas fundraiser, in aid of animal rescue organisations has been held in Durban North. This year is no different, as local resident, Denzil Burmester is raising funds for Persian Cat Rescue Durban.

The non-profit organisation, run by uMhlanga resident, Sylvia Goncalves, was founded in 2010, and rescues, rehomes and rehabilitates Persians and Chinchillas in Durban and all over South Africa. Burmester said as a Persian cat owner and lover, she felt she could not have chosen a more deserving organisation.

“I’ve known Sylvia for many years and she even helped me with my Persian cat, Burmi. The Durban North community has been fantastic in their support of us and we love giving back. I’m hoping to see as many feet through the door on Saturday to help support the rescue. It’s also a way for us to raise awareness for what Sylvia’s organisation does,” Burmester said.

Goncalves said she was looking forward to the event.

“It’s incredible what Denzil is doing for us, she has always been a supporter of local animal organisations. We are extremely grateful for any donation or contribution made, no matter how big or small,” she said.

  • The Magical Christmas Market fundraiser takes place on Saturday, 26 November from 8am to 4.30pm at the Spade Design Centre, 185 Lothian Road. Father Christmas will also be making an appearance at 2.30pm.
