High speed chase ends on N2

The suspects were found with various vehicle theft equipment, a police radio and various car keys.

SIX suspects were arrested after a high speed chase ended on the N2 an hour ago. The Durban K9 unit and Kwadukuza SAPS intercepted the stolen vehicle near the Blythdale off-ramp, after the suspects had stolen a vehicle in Durban.

W/O Johannes Khoza, spokesman for Kwadukuza SAPS said he could not disclose much information, but confirmed the arrests.

“The Durban K9 Unit was involved in the chase and we assisted. At this stage, I cannot say anymore until the preliminary investigations are concluded,” he said.

According to provincial spokesman, Lt Col Thulani Zwane, the vehicle was recovered few hours after it was stolen at Berea area in Durban.

“It is alleged that the owner parked his vehicle at Berea area. When he returned back he noticed that his vehicle was gone. Description of the said vehicle was circulated and police started to trace it. The victim also assisted during the chase.

According to a police source, who did not want to be named, the suspects were found with various vehicle theft equipment, a police radio, a computer box and various car keys.
