“DONATE blood, help save a life” – was the call made by KZN Health MEC, Dr Sibongiseni Dhlomo. As the festive season draws, Dhlomo is encouraging residents to roll up their sleeves and donate.
The MEC said more volunteers were needed to fill the Province’s 21 blood banks as well as the 89 emergency blood fridges that are located in the province’s health facilities.
“This is a critical time of the year when blood will be most needed. As we approach the end of the school examinations and the beginning of holiday season, the coming 60 days will see a great demand for blood.”
You can donate if:
- You are at least 16 years or older
- Weigh at least 50kg
- Have not donated blood within the previous 56 days
