Toblerone triangle tizz hits Twitter

'Shrinkflation' hits major chocolate producer and the fans are not having it.

Chocolate fans were outraged recently when Toblerone made a major change to its iconic triangular shape. Mondelez International, the company that makes Toblerone said they decided to change the design to reduce the weight of their 400g and 170g chocolates.

The company released a statement via their Facebook page explaining their thorough process in changing the shape, which has left a bitter taste in many a fan’s mouth.

“This is because we always work hard to ensure we offer value for money for our consumers, but like many other companies, we are experiencing higher costs for numerous ingredients. We carry these costs for as long as possible, but to ensure Toblerone remains on-shelf, is affordable and retains the triangular shape, we have had to reduce the weight of just two of our bars in the UK, from the wider range of available Toblerone products.”

Taking to Twitter, fans expressed their distaste at the brand’s “shrinkflation” move.
