Sunningdale guard assaulted by house-breakers

The security guard was robbed of his cell phone and wallet.

A SECURITY guard in Sunningdale was assaulted by three suspects, one of whom was armed, in an incident on Meadow Lane in the early hours of Sunday morning. According to Marshall Security’s Tyron Powell, the incident occurred at about 3am.

“The suspects had stolen an iPad and a wallet through the window of a home on Meadow Lane. They were spotted and fled in the direction of the Sunningdale Park when they bumped into a security guard. The men attacked him and pushed him to the ground. The suspects repeatedly kicked him while he was on the ground and during the assault he lost a tooth.

“They stole his cell phone and some money and fled down towards the end of Village Way to  through the bushes alongside the N2 freeway. The guard was taken to Entabeni Hospital. Both the Sunningdale neighbourhood watch and Marshall searched for the suspects but they managed to evade arrest,” he said.

Powell urged residents to ensure all windows were closed and to have beams activated.
