OVER the last few years more and more social media platforms have been launched in the digital sphere, creating serious competition for Facebook. However, according to WordStream, a digital marketing company, the social media giant’s user base is still growing strong.
Every second Facebook gains eight new users. Currently, there are over two million active users on the platform.
The application’s popularity is primarily driven by videos – its most shared content. On average videos are shared 89 times.
In September 2014, users watched over one billion videos a day. The figure has since increased to four billion.
The social media site stores over 300 petabytes of user data on its servers, and there are one million gigabytes in a single petabyte.
