Nandi Drive thieves make off with microwave

The suspects chased off the security guards by firing one shot into the air.

TWO SECURITY guards were accosted by four armed men while patrolling at a business premises on Queen Nandi Drive on Sunday evening.

The guard alleged that the incident occurred around midnight. The suspects were reportedly hiding on the premises.

“After one of the suspects drew a firearm and fired one shot in the air, the two guards fled the scene and hid for their own protection,” said W/O Leon Audh, spokesman for Greenwood Park SAPS.

One of the guards also claimed that the suspects wielded a knife and bolt cutters.

“After the suspects had fled the crime scene the complainant and his colleague inspected the business premises and found that the roller door leading into the canteen was forced open,” added Audh.

The four perpetrators had escaped with a microwave and assorted cigarettes.
