Women robbed at knife-point on N2

This is the second robbery on the N2 in the space of 24 hours.

THERE has been yet another robbery on the N2, this time near the uMgeni interchange. Two women believed to be in their 60s were robbed at knife-point by two suspects at about 4pm on Friday. The women had broken down in the slow lane going south. According to Marshall Security’s Kyle van Reenen, the women were trying to direct traffic around the car when they were accosted.

“They were standing behind the vehicle directing traffic when they noticed two men crossing the new interchange. One of the suspects, armed with a knife threatened the women and stole a number of their valuables and cell phones. The suspects then fled on foot,” he said.

The robbery comes 24 hours after a stabbing and robbery on the N2. On Thursday, a woman who had broken down just after the uMhlanga off-ramp was stabbed in the back and arm by knife-wielding suspects. It is unclear at this point whether the suspects are linked to the same case.
