Opportunity knocks for emerging writers

The workshop is part of the Essence Festival Durban and will be offered in both Zulu and English.

EMERGING writers, who have manuscripts, are invited to be part of a five day Creative Writing Workshop from 7 to 11 November hosted by the City’s Parks, Recreation and Culture Unit.

The once-in-a-lifetime opportunity will offer a unique platform for up-and-coming authors to take their writing skills to the next level. The workshop is part of the Essence Festival Durban and will be offered in both Zulu and English.  Interested writers are to submit their application in the form of a one page motivation, explaining why they are suitable for participation. Applicants should specify whether they wish to participate in the Zulu or English category.

Selected participants will have an opportunity to be part of the Essence Festival Durban and experience the ARTiculate Africa Programme, where they will meet with leading book industry players and gain vital insights regarding how they can get their work published.  Nakanjani Sibiya and Shubnum Khan will be the main facilitators.
