WATCH: Mother cat, kitten rescued from drain pipe

A combined rescue effort led to a happy reunion and the rescue of two felines.

SOCIAL media is hailing the efforts of three rescuers who helped save a mother cat and her kitten who were stuck in a water pipe in Phoenix. Shaun Paul of Netcare 911, Quinten Power of Specialised Rescue Unit and Chris Williams of RescueTech all helped were part of a four hour operation to free the trapped felines.

According to Netcare 911 spokesman, Chris Botha, the rescuers had to use a specialised camera to locate the cats.

“When Shaun (Paul) arrived on scene he found that it would be a very technical and long rescue operation. Realising that there was rain predicted for Thursday night, he called for the assistance of Specialised Rescue Unit and RescueTech.”

The dramatic rescue was also caught on video by Andreas Mathios

“The rescue team used a specialised  camera that was put into the pipe to locate the cats. With picks shovels and angle grinders the rescuers worked for about four hours before they managed with a great relief to safely remove the cats from the storm water drain,” he said.

Botha added the owner of the cats was relieved and ecstatic the rescuers had saved his beloved pets.
