uMhlanga interchange ‘collapse’ was controlled explosion

The bridge collapse is a hoax says Crisis Medical spokesman.

THE alleged bridge collapse on the newly constructed interchange on the N2/M41 was a controlled demolition. According to Neil Powell, of Crisis Medical, paramedics were alerted to a possible bridge collapse but were flagged down by a site manager at the construction site.

“The site was cleared while the controlled demolition was carried out. The blast was to take down an older bridge the construction workers used during the construction of the new interchange. Traffic is flowing as normal and there were no injuries. Social media posts are saying there was a collapse but it’s not true, it’s a hoax,” he said.

He added emergency services were unaware of planned demolition.
