Thespian fundraiser set for Durban North

The Voices of Durban North fundraiser will be held in support of the Catalina UnLtd initiative, #MusicalTheatreAlive.

THE Durban North community is invited to support the Voices of Durban North production to be hosted by the @Tap Community Centre at the Durban North Baptist Church on Thursday 8, September. The annual fundraiser will be held in support of the Catalina UnLtd initiative, #MusicalTheatreAlive.

The organisation visits over 14 schools across KwaZulu-Natal to select the crème of the crop performers for their hit shows, such as The Buddy Holly Story recently performed at The Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre. Following hundreds of auditions the organisation selects 20 of the best performers.

Facilitating a love of music and theatre is the aim of the initiative as well as to discover some of the province’s hidden talents.
Six of this year’s local top performers, from schools such as Our Lady of Fatima, Chelsea Preparatory School and Northlands Primary School, will be entertaining the crowd for Thursday’s fundraiser.

The thespians will be performing an excerpt of The Buddy Holly Story. The fundraiser is well established and has been an annual firm favourite for the last eight years.

“It is the perfect family evening where locals can celebrate music and song,” said organiser, Jennie Glover.
