About 70 students had to be evacuated when a fire broke out the Charles James Residence for the physically challenged.

FIRE-FIGHTERS had to tackle a second fire that broke out at the University of KwaZulu-Natal’s Howard campus last night. About 70 disabled students had to evacuated from the Charles James Residence after a mattress and fridge was reportedly set alight.

This after protesters allegedly torched a section of the Law Library. None of the students were injured in the blaze, and fire-fighters were set to have doused both fires quickly.

The alleged arson attacks came just hours after police fired rubber bullets at protesting #feesmustfall students. The students had allegedly earlier thrown stones at police at the Howard College campus and torched six cars at the Westville campus of the massive university.
