3 Injured in Avoca Hills crash

The motorist reportedly veered off the road before crashing into two pedestrians.

TWO pedestrians and a motorist were injured during a horrific accident on Effingham Road in the Avoca Hills this evening.

“Reports from the scene indicate that the driver of the vehicle veered off the roadway and hit two pedestrians before smashing through a precast wall,” said Netcare 911 spokesperson, Chris Botha.

One of the pedestrians sustained life-threatening injuries, while the driver and the second pedestrian sustained serious injuries.

However, the passenger from the vehicle ‘miraculously escaped with minor injuries’, added Botha.

“Medics stabilised the injured at the scene before they transported them to various hospitals. The critically wounded pedestrian was transported to a specialised hospital under the constant care of a Netcare 911 advanced Life support paramedic,” he said.
