Sixth hijacking in Greenwood SAPS precinct
This time the victim was targeted while attending a funeral.
GREENWOOD Park SAPS launched a manhunt on Thursday afternoon after another violent hijacking was reported in Avoca. This had been the sixth hijacking in the policing district in the last four weeks.
According to W/O Leon Audh, spokesman for the station the victim was accosted by two men while attending a funeral on Bhamo Avenue at around 2pm. One of the men reportedly produced a gun as they moved towards him and pointed the weapon at the victim.
“The incident unfolded whilst the victim was standing near the driver’s side door when two perpetrators approached him and forcefully hijacked him of his VW Polo. The suspects thereafter jumped into the car and fled the scene,” he said.
Police were immediately dispatched and started searching for the suspects, added Audh. He confirmed that the stolen vehicle was later recovered in the KwaMashu area.
