1000 hectare development gets underway

The development is the largest of its kind in KwaZulu-Natal and will see at least 20 years to roll-out completion.

A SUBSTANTIAL new development has commenced on the northern corridor of the KwaZulu-Natal coast. The Sibaya Coastal Precinct is situated between Ohlanga and uMdloti and according to mega developer, Tongaat Hulett, is over 1 000 hectares of coastal land.
The unique lifestyle development is the largest of its kind in KwaZulu-Natal and will see at least 20 years to roll-out completion.

Rory Wilkinson, Tongaat Hulett Developments’ Planning Director of Sibaya Coastal Precinct said: “The area is already highly sought after by developers, investors and potential residents alike because of its breath-taking landscape and unique lifestyle offering, so a concept that effortlessly accentuated this combination to do the location justice was key.”
Wilkinson said 60 per cent of the total 1,042 hectares will be rehabilitated, managed open space with the existing coastal Hawaan Forest retained as a natural asset.
As the only significant remaining coastal dune forest outside of the iSimangaliso Wetland Park, the existing Hawaan Forest will be a protected and treasured natural asset Wilkinson said.
When complete, Sibaya Coastal Precinct will provide more than 25,000 permanent jobs.
