Local lass hits the big time

A former Durban North resident is playing a role in an upcoming moving, Toby Goes to Camp.

ACTRESS and former Durban North resident Lize Johnston plays one of the lead roles in the upcoming live-action feature, Toby Goes to Camp.
The movie, according to the Northlands Girls’ High School graduate, revolves around a young white Bengal tiger named Toby that goes to summer camp. The movie was filmed in the mountains near Malibu in Los Angeles, California and will be released next year.

Lize is no stranger to the limelight having graduated with six distinctions in her matric year in 2002. The actress who has also appeared alongside, Rumer Willis, the daughter of Demi Moore and Bruce Willis, followed her schooling success up with a Bachelor’s and then her Master’s in Fine Arts in Theatre from Harvard University in the US.

“In New York, I played Lady Macbeth in Macbeth, Helen of Troy in Helen, and Viola in Twelfth Night, amongst others, and in Russia I played a lead role in an adaptation of a Dostoevsky novel during a residency at the Moscow Art Theatre, as well as Yelena from Anton Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya at a theatre festival held at the late playwright’s estate,” she said.
