Women pose as buyers, rob homes

There has been three cases reported so far warns Durban North SAPS.

DURBAN North SAPS has issued a warning to residents about women posing as potential house hunters and then robbing homes in the area. According to Capt Raymond Deokaran, spokesman for the station, the women have targeted three homes in uMhlanga, Virginia and La Lucia in the last week.

“In two of the cases the criminals were let in by the domestic workers. What we have noticed is they convince the domestic workers that the owner’s of the home are selling and they’ve come to look at the house. They then steal items that are easy to carry and easily missed. In the home in La Lucia, they stole a laptop and several cell phones.

“There has been three cases reported so far and the third involved the theft of an estate agent’s purse. I urge residents to inform their domestic workers not to let anyone in. We are in the process of tracing the women, we believe there are two of them involved,” he said.

No arrests have yet been made.
