Durban ICC is one of the world’s best

Durban ICC has been ranked in the top 15 convention centres in the world.

THE Durban International Convention Centre (Durban ICC) has been named among the top 15 convention centres in the world by the International Association of Congress Centres (AIPC).

The announcement of the finalists of the AIPC Apex Awards was made at the organisation’s annual general assembly held earlier this month in Nantes, France.

The Centre was recognised as one of the 15 finalists for “Best Client Rated Convention Centre” in the global competition and was notably the only convention centre in Africa to have made the final list despite several entrants from the continent.

“The position of finalist for the AIPC Apex Award is a notable achievement that places a centre among very good company worldwide. In total, Ipsos has surveyed over 1 650 client references put forward by participating centres, a clear indication of the effort made to get the broadest possible assessment of client evaluations for this competition,” said AIPC President Geoff Donaghy.

Commenting on the announcement, Durban ICC Chief Executive Officer, Lindiwe Rakharebe noted: “The AIPC Apex Awards are the authoritative benchmark for international service excellence and one of the most esteemed and respected accolades in the entire meetings industry world-wide. It is a great honour for our dedicated and passionate team to receive this tribute. This accolade emphasises our position as Africa’s leading convention centre, a title which we strive to live up to every day.”

The top honour went to the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, and the two runners-up were the Kongresskultur Bregenz GmbH, Austria and the Hawaii Convention Center.
