THE show, Me, Myself & I, The Best Of Mervyn Pillay, takes place at iZulu Theatre, Sibaya Casino at 8pm on 26 and 27 August. The Durban entertainer who has a career spanning 30 years said Eddie Murphy, Robin Williams, comic legend Jerry Lewis and India’s Johnny Lever were his inspirations.
Pillay said it was hard at first to take the microphone and tell jokes when for years prior to that, he mimed and danced to songs of his favourite film stars.
This next step saw Mervyn not miming anymore but using his own voice to sing, do impressions and tell jokes. From then on it was no turning back for him as he was touring with many comedy and musical shows. Pillay has appeared in one man shows, that include, Back in Time, One Night Stand and Bollywood Comedy Night. Tickets are R100 and R120 from Computicket.
