Another pool pump stolen in Park Hill

This is the sixth theft since July.

A PARK Hill resident got the shock of his life when he woke up on election morning to discover thieves had stolen his pool pump. According to Marshall Security’s Kyle van Reenen, there has been a spike in pool pump thefts. This is the sixth theft since last month.

“The homeowner woke up and went up to the pool only to discover the pump had been stolen. Unfortunately there were no garden beams so the thief or thieves managed to steal everything without waking anyone up. A case has been opened at the Greenwood Park SAPS,” he said.

Greenwood Park SAPS also sent out a warning saying they had seen a spike in pool pump thefts.

“We urge the residents who have pools at their homes to take extra precaution of their pool pumps. Recently we have noticed a marked increase in the theft of pool pumps in the area and the thefts are occurring at night. It is advisable to secure the pool pump cover to the ground and not to just have it placed loosely over the pump for protection,” said W/O Leon Audh, spokesman for the station.
