Children or whoonga addicts suspected in petty thefts

It is believed the suspects gained entry through the bathroom windows.

POLICE suspect that whoonga addicts might be behind a recent spike in petty house breakins in the Greenwood Park policing district, said W/O Leon Audh earlier today.

He said the station had recently received numerous reports from the community regarding home breakins where the suspects entered the property via the bathroom windows.

“Since generally the toilet windows are smaller than other windows in the home we are assuming that the perpetrators are small in build, either children or whoonga smokers, who are thin and frail  due to their habit,” he said.

What’s more, he said the ‘opportunistic criminals’ have only stolen small items, which could be used for “small sales to feed the whoonga addiction.”

“We urge the community to have burglar guards fitted to all windows in their homes and also close all windows at night,” he said.
