Dead body found in uMhlanga pool

Durban North police are currently investigating the drowning.

A DEAD body was found in an uMhlanga resident’s pool early on Thursday morning. Capt Raymond Deokaran, spokesman for the Durban North SAPS said the Marine Drive homeowners discovered the woman’s body at about 7.30am.

“It would appear the woman had walked on to the property and walked to the pool. At this stage we aren’t sure if she slipped and fell into the pool or whether it was a suicide. The homeowners heard no commotion but woke this morning to find the body floating in the pool. They alerted the authorities but when we arrived the body was in a state of rigor mortis.

“She appears to have been in the water for a long time, her lips were blue. The victim was fully clothed and may have been a vagrant, however, we are unsure at the moment. We found a blanket and two oranges left at the side of the pool which belonged to her. We are trying to track down a next of kin,” he said.
