11 fined in Riverside Road roadblock

The offences ranged from motorists driving without a license to expired licenses.

ELEVEN people were fined for various traffic offences on Riverside Road on Friday after Greenwood Park SAPS held a roadblock. According to W/O Leon Audh, spokesman for the station, offences ranged from motorists driving without a license or expired licenses. The roadblock was also used by police to hand out crime awareness pamphlets.

“The operation  was a huge success as motorist’s license disks and drivers licenses were checked. We handed out crime awareness pamphlets to drivers which highlighted the risks of leaving valuables visible in their cars as well as refraining from leaving their firearms in their vehicles unattended,” he said.

The operations are carried out at random throughout the policing precinct confirmed Audh.

“We are receiving positive feedback from the community, which is great. The station commander of Greenwood Park, Colonel Mbongeni Mngadi and Brian Diash (CPF Sub forum 4 chairperson) were also in attendance,” he said.
