Sunningdale ‘gardener’ robber arrested

Police and security company make breakthrough in Meadow Lane robbery.

THE man involved in the armed robbery in Sunningdale early this morning has been arrested. The suspect, who is believed to be the family’s gardener was arrested and detained by Durban North SAPS reservists and Marshall Security special operation team members who traced an iPad stolen in the robbery on Meadow Lane.

The man is yet to be formally charged but is believed to work for other residents in the Sunningdale village. It is understood the family have positively identified the man.

Chairman of the Durban North/uMhlanga CPF, Haden Searles, praised those involved in his apprehension.

“The suspect has been detained at Durban North SAPS and handed over to the elite Field Unit for further investigation. Well done to all involved for their swift action and follow up investigations. The suspect will appear in court early next week,” he said.
