Sushi restaurant robbers identified as hijackers

Two of the four suspects involved in the armed robbery remain at large.

THE men involved in the robbery of a popular sushi restaurant on Umhlanga Rocks Drive have been positively identified as the men who hijacked a Zimbali resident last month. Last night four men, who were all armed, confronted the manager of the Bamboo Sushi Lounge as he was locking up, confirmed W/O Leon Audh, spokesman for the Greenwood Park SAPS.

They stole various items including an iPhone which was tracked to a location in Inanda. The car used in a robbery, an Audi A7, was also identified as stolen.

“The perpetrators were wanted for a previous hijacking that occurred in the Greenwood Park patrol area. Among other items recovered besides the white Audi coupé, was the restaurant victim’s cell phone, a bolt cutter, a hammer, allen keys, flash light and two more cell phones.

According to Audh, two of the four suspects remain at large. Police are still looking for the undisclosed amount of cash, cell phones, alcohol and bank cards taken in the robbery.

“We want to thank and commend Marshall Security and all the officers involved in this incident for their dedication and hard work in the fight against crime.”
