Support for fundraiser has tails wagging

The Durban North Neighbours Rescue Fund was able to raise over R11 000 at its first spiritual fundraising fair .

A WHOPPING R11 500 was raised during the Durban North Neighbours Rescue Fund‘s holistic and spiritual fundraising fair held recently.

Founder of the organisation, Kerry Haylett, said they were ‘over the moon’ following the community’s support at the event.

“We were hoping to raise at least R10 000 and we were able to do that and so much more. In addition to fundraising, we also set out to raise some awareness on the animal rescue organisations that operate in the Durban North community and we were thrilled by the feedback we received from all the organisations that attended the event. So many people gave freely of their time and wallets and we are so overwhelmed,” she said.

The Dachshund Haven’s Lakota Schultz said they received an adoption application for one of its senior pups. While Gianna Scoulelis Kloppers of Animally Haven was able to go home with two vehicle loads of dog food.

“We asked residents to donate pet food as an entry fee and all the food was donated to Animally Haven, which currently has 90 dogs in its care,” she said.

Haylett said they have three dogs in their care that can now be sterilised. They are also hoping to use the collected funds to help pet owners who are in desperate need of assistance.
